Kyogle Flood
|

|
After nine days of continuous rain and four inches of rain overnight on 4/5 January 2008 Kyogle suffered its second worse flood on record. The biggest flood was in 1954. We are on a small estate some one and a half kms north of Kyogle on the Summerland Way which is a small estate of 26 houses which is now (5 January 2008) surrounded by water.
This morning I went out and took some pictures.
View from front door.
Looking north from the end of Golf View Drive (50 metres up the road from our house). Summerland Way and the railway are at the corner on the left.
This is from the 4th tee on the golf course. The pin is several metres under the water there. Golf course again. That's the clubhouse and behind the clubhouse is Summerland Way.
Taken from the bridge at Collins Creek Road looking north. Summerland Way to the left of the railway is under water.
From the same bridge but looking towards Kyogle. Summerland Way is under water to the right of the railway. The water is flowing quite freely. The edge of the golf course can be seen to the left of the picture. There are some people on the track walking from Kyogle.
This picture, also taken from the bridge, gives some idea just how deep that water is.
